Start of the Art:
Collections in the Making
MEET THE FOUNDER
William Skeet Jiggetts
William Skeet Jiggetts has been collecting art for over thirty years, starting with an original work by Lucien Crump. His journey evolved significantly with the mentorship of renowned collector Ron Ollie, who inspired him not only to collect, but to engage in arts patronage and build relationships with emerging and contemporary artists. Currently, Mr Jiggetts serves as a trustee and board member for several visual fine arts organizations.

An exhibition featuring collectors owning fewer than 30 pieces.
An excerpt from the essay by StarrJiggetts
The question of why people collect is as old as the practice itself. And the individual motives for collecting are as numerous as the theories proposed as answers to this age-old question.
The collectors in the MAAAC’s Start of the Art exhibition are new to this space. Everyone featured in the show owns fewer than 30 pieces. And yet, this show is a reflection of what we like, what moves us, and the visual space we’re starting to curate for ourselves.
